RYA Tender Operator Course

Overview

The RYA Tender Operator Course is designed specifically for Yacht Crew who operate Tenders during day and night.

The course builds on the experience gained during Power Boat Level 2 and addresses the requirements for operating during day and night.

Designed in conjunction with the Professional Yachting Association (PYA) this course is intended to build upon a candidate’s basic powerboating knowledge and skills.

Attendees will gain confidence in their ability to manoeuvre a powerboat more smoothly but the real benefit is the emphasis on learning important skills in pilotage, both day and night, and passenger carriage and management.

Originally intended for operators responsible for ferrying passengers between Superyachts and the shore, this course is very useful for anyone operating a powerboat day or night with responsibility for carrying passengers.

The course includes plenty of time to practice working with a crew member and operating short-handed.  In navigation terms, the emphasis is on short ship-to-shore transfers by day and at night.

Pre-Requisites

Candidates should be competent to the standard of RYA Powerboat Level 2 Powerboat Handling. It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a first aid and VHF / SRC operators certificate
